Lantmännen Agroetanol is the largest biorefinery in the Nordic region and part of Lantmännen, an agricultural cooperative owned by 25,000 Swedish farmers, with operations throughout the entire value chain from field to fork. We mainly refine grain at our plant, but also other raw materials such as starch-rich residuals from the food industry. Doing so has created a broader base for us with regard to the raw materials we take in, whilst also allowing us to take responsibility and become a clearer part of the circular economy.

Our refining process yields three main products – ethanol, protein and carbon dioxide. We process each of these into sustainable products such as fuel, animal feed and carbonic acid. Protecting the climate is part of our corporate DNA. Take for example our ethanol, a 90%+ CO2 reduction yield makes this the most sustainable in the world! We thus help Lantmännen considerably in taking responsibility from field to fork.

A biorefinery with big opportunities

What does it mean to be the largest biorefinery in the Nordics? We receive about 60 truck- and trailer loads of grain every day of the week, all year round. That’s a lot of raw material! Refining every kernel of wheat into three parts also generates large volumes of everything we produce. And this is how we make difference to the climate. For real.
